Fertility Focused Vets

Taurus Herd Health is an innovative veterinary practice located in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. We specialise in farm animal healthcare, with a particular focus on fertility.

At Taurus Herd Health, we recognise that in order to maximise productivity on farm, optimum fertility is central. As a result, routine fertility visits and herd health advice remain the cornerstone of the services we offer.

Alongside these services we are also able to provide multiple advanced-breeding techniques including embryo transfer, bull fertility testing, synchronisation & AI, pelvic scoring and genomic testing.  Combining these approaches, we provide the most effective solutions to improve the overall health and productivity of your herd.

As farm vets in NI, we are committed to providing quality veterinary services to cows of all shapes and sizes.

What We Do

Scanning

Using modern ultrasound scanners we can accurately and efficiently diagnose pregnancy from 28 days post breeding, confirm cyclicity and correct any ovarian or uterine disease present. Most of our dairy clients have regular routine fertility visits.

Bull Fertility Testing

Keeping a defective bull can be a costly business. Whilst absolute infertility is rare, sub-fertile bulls are very common. We are able to examine a bull and conduct a comprehensive breeding evaluation including semen assessment either pre/post sale or pre-breeding.

Embryo Collection & Transfer

Embryo transfer involves the collection or ‘flushing’ of embryos from genetically superior females and subsequent transfer of those embryos in to recipient surrogate cows. We are able to provide a comprehensive on-farm ET service throughout the country.

At Taurus Herd Health we are able to work alongside your current vet and wider farm team to provide the best possible care for your animals.

Herd Health Planning & Consultancy

Optimising herd health is at the heart of all we do. Through regular and simple data collection we are able to provide bespoke herd health analysis and planning. We can also monitor infectious disease status through our unique bulk milk and youngstock monitoring service providing rapid detection and diagnosis long before clinical signs appear.
